At our April meeting, we received a presentation by E Comp Mike Neville, PPAGSoj (Surrey), entitled Masonic Politicians -Service & Scandal. Following his previous visit in 2018, when he delivered his presentation, Masons & the Detection of Crime, he once again entertained us with a very well received talk.

Chevalier Andrew Michael Ramsay - His Masonic Legacy
Presented by E Comp Brian Price OBE, PPGScE, SLGCR
E Comp Price told us of the life and times of Chevalier Andrew Michael Ramsay, a Scotsman of high connections, born in 1686 but who spent much of his life in France, and of his influence in Freemasonry 'beyond the craft' including the Royal Arch.
Himself a holder of the British Empire Medal, Jimmy Burgess visited from the Province of Cumberland & Westmorland to tell us of the life and times of that renowned product of Empire - Bro Rudyard Kipling.
Although not directly linked to the Royal Arch, Jimmy's talk was both interesting and entertaining, covering Kipling's interest in Freemasonry, his high regard for Empire, the loss of his son as a casualty of war and his work with the War Graves Commission.

Following our Installation Ceremony, E Comp Tony Harvey PAGDC presented a talk entitled “What is Freemasonry’s Fascination with Completion?”, which was aimed at experienced RA Masons seeking a better understanding of the Order and its purpose and place within Freemasonry.

E Comp Robert Cooper presented “Early History of the Royal Arch – A Scottish Perspective”.
As a past master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge 2076 and, until recently, curator of the museum and library of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, with access to some of the oldest documents and artefacts in the masonic world, E Comp Cooper was able was able to tell us about the influences Scottish Freemasonry had on the development of the Royal Arch in its early days.

E Comp Hugh O’Neill visited from the Province of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to deliver a talk entitled “Incorrect in Almost Every Particular”. In it, he explored some of the anomalies which arose from the different relationships the two Grand Lodges had with the Royal Arch and the steps which had to be taken during their unification.
